Our Team in a Nutshell
We have a mix of full time and seasonal summer staff and are always on the lookout for great people who work well in a team, are hard working and enthusiastic. We have a very multicultural team made up of people from all over the world who now call Queenstown home. Prior landscaping experience is great to have, but as you'll see below, we have had plenty of incredible people that have just been keen to get stuck in and give anything a go.
Our team love the activities the local area has to offer. We often spend time together outside of work, like a work event playing bowls in Arrowtown or even if just for a quick beer at the pub. If you are keen for what Queenstown has to offer and team culture is important to you, you'll fit right in!

Meet the Team - Past & Present
We're incredibly proud of the culture we've built at Shotover Mowing. We believe that when you surround yourself with great people, everything else follows. Since 2017, we've been fortunate to have an amazing group of people help shape our business. Some are still with us today, while others have gone on to travel, build new careers or take on exciting opportunities. Every one of them has played an important part in our journey, and we're incredibly grateful for the memories, friendships and hard work they've shared along the way.

Hi, I'm Brendon. I started Shotover Mowing in 2017. I am incredibly proud to be part of a close-knit team & love seeing our team build friendships that extend beyond work. I've personally been very lucky to have made many good friends with the people I've worked with. Excited to see what future will bring.

After living in Queenstown for a couple years & working in hospo, I was ready for a change and a new challenge. Shotover Mowing opened their doors to me and brought me on board and I am grateful to have been able to grow into such a dynamic role, managing the team at Shotover Mowing. I feel very lucky to be part of such a friendly team and to keep learning while getting to work outdoors in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

"I came to Queenstown for one summer and ended up staying for three years! From the moment I joined the team, everyone made me feel incredibly welcome. During my time with Shotover Mowing, I learnt so many new skills and was trusted with more responsibility than I ever expected. It was also a fantastic opportunity to improve my English while working alongside a great group of people. Looking back, I'm really grateful for the experience and everything I learnt."

"I joined in 2020 and have loved seeing both the business and the team grow over the years. One of the things I enjoy most is helping train new staff and seeing them build their confidence and skills. Every day is different, and it's great working alongside a supportive team in a fun enviroment. It's been awesome being part of a company where hard work is recognised and there are always opportunities to keep learning."

"2022-2026"
I spent 4 great years with Shotover Mowing. During that time, I got to see the team and the business grow, made some incredible friends, and learnt a huge amount along the way. I never expected to end up managing our hydroseeding work when I first joined, but it was a great opportunity to keep learning new skills and take on more responsibility. Looking back, I'll always be grateful for everything I experienced during my time with the team.

"2024 - 2026"
"I spent two summer seasons with Shotover Mowing between winters working on the ski fields, and it was a fantastic experience. I loved being part of a close-knit team with a great culture, where everyone was always willing to help each other out. As I gained experience, I was trusted with more responsibility, eventually managing our larger ride-on mowing jobs. I'm now off on my next adventure in Canada, but I'll always look back fondly on my time with the team."

"2023 - 2025"
I left the UK in early 2023 on a journey to find a new home on the other side of the world and certainly found one here living in Arrowtown. The crew here at Shotover Mowing have been the Whānau I never knew I needed and I can't wait to continue putting down roots, whilst also digging them up in the Remarkables sunshine!

I moved to Queenstown from Te Anau and split my time between the ski field in winter and ShotMow for the rest of the year. I've loved every second having heaps of opportunities to learn, develop new skills and take on additional responsibilities. It's always nice to be able to get stuck in and use some old fashioned Kiwi ingenuity! We have a great team of passionate people which makes for an awesome place with great culture.
